8 Reasons We Should Be Nervous About Star Wars 7

7. Lawrence Kasdan

Lawrence Kasdan When Star Wars fans first heard that Lawrence Kasdan - the man responsible for writing not just the best Star Wars film ever, The Empire Strikes Back, but the best Indiana Jones film ever, too, Raiders of the Lost Ark - had agreed to come on board and help with the story aspects for Episode VII, there was the feeling that Disney were on the right track. Whereas Kasdan's original role was vaguely outlined, he moved into lead screenwriter position alongside J.J. Abrams when Michael Arndt left production. So having Kasdan on board is something to be relished... isn't it? Well, yes and no. Sure, he wrote Empire and Raiders, but he also did so whilst collaborating with some very talented people at the top of their game (including Steven Spielberg) - his writer "partner" on this one is J.J. Abrams, whose scripts constantly fall short of delivering. Kasdan also hasn't really done much in 10 years - his last big venture as a writer and director, Dreamcatcher, was awful. And God knows Mumford, The Last Kiss and I Love You to Death were terrible, too. So whilst it's good thing he's involved, there's really no telling how suited he is for the job in 2014.
