8 Redeeming Qualities Of The Star Wars Prequel Trilogy

2. Musical Score - Duel Of The Fates

Anakin Vs Obi Wan By Sithjammies It can be months since I've watched any Star Wars film (which never happens) and the symphony of John Williams' composed Duel of the Fates will glue to my mind for hours and hours. The original trilogy gave us timeless tracks that will identify cinema as a whole forever. But the score that snaked throughout the prequel trilogy first heard during the battle between Darth Maul and Obi-Wan & Qui-Gon is as grand as anyone can expect from the great John Williams. The in-depth emotional tones evoked by the rhythmic chanting of a Celtic poem, Cad Goddeu (Battle of the Trees), in Sanskrit ups the ante every time it plays. It blankets the musical accompaniment of Episodes I through III with an idea of destiny and a hint of providence, foreshadowing in audio the battle that Anakin will have to face. If this piece was not created, a large portion of what the prequel trilogy was trying to emit and actually make sense of would not have happened. Duel of the Fates lets us know that we should be paying attention because what you about to witness will change the galaxy far, far away forever.
