8 Sci-Fi Clichés That Need To Calm Down

3. Magic Prosthetics

20th Century Fox

Losing a limb in sci-fi land should really be a cause for celebration, as now you have the perfect opportunity to get yourself kitted out with a super-cool, vaguely steampunk prosthetic.

This is especially exciting, seeing as many of these prosthetics also appear to have magical abilities that affect your entire body and, indeed, the laws of physics.

How else would a character be able to lift a super-heavy object in their prosthetic hand, without their whole arm simply tearing off at the shoulder?

Or punch through a wall without shattering the rest of your skeleton or, alternatively, simply flying backwards (yeah, Newton's Third Law, b*tch).

Perhaps the prosthetics of the futureare integrated into the rest of the body and imbued with fairy magic. It would certainly open up some new events for the paralympics.
