7. The Duo Try To Visit Boo And Get Trapped In The Human World - Monsters University

Monsters

One of Monsters University€™'s most restrained moments of brilliance was not giving any overt mention to Boo. It would be so easy to have a knowing wink to the audience about children€™'s non-toxicity or a lookalike in the scout cabin, but the film all the more wholesome for it.

It would have been even easier to have thrown her into a Monsters, Inc. follow up, as a misguided sequel tried ten years ago. Toy Story 3 is the most high profile almost-film from Circle 7, but it wasn't the only one that moved beyond the concept stage before all the projects were dropped. Had Lasseter not stepped in we quite easily could have got Monsters, Inc. 2: Lost in Scaradise. And if that title sounds clunky and ill thought-out, just wait until you check out the story.

After a plot contrivance that would have eyebrows cocked high in disbelief the world over, Mike and Sulley'€™s attempt to give Boo a birthday present leads to the them separated and trapped in the human world. Ignoring being in the real world had been succinctly covered in the original, the similarities between the two world's doesn't lend itself to comedy. Thankfully, as with Toy Story 3, the shutdown of Circle 7 stopped this going beyond the storyboard stage.
