8. Jokes Referring To Insurance Premiums
As seen in: The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 3, Avengers: Age Of Ultron You know the scene: some big lump has just launched an attack on a major city, causing widespread devastation. Turning to a colleague, our hero or one of his associates chirps: Guess our insurance premiums just went up!/Man, Im glad Im not writing their claims forms!/I hope theyve got insurance! or some other variant. Oh, my aching sides. What probably needs to happen is the hiring of actual comedy writers to do the comedy bits. Im not saying it needs to turn into a two-and-a-half hour Saturday Night Live feature film, but comedy is much, much harder to write than seriousface sci-fi-fantasy pseudo-mystical nonsense which strings the plot together. All that said, there's a Damage Control TV show in the works which will essentially be one big insurance joke and which will hopefully negate this over-the-top usage; it's based on the comic series about a construction company which runs around clearing up the mess left behind by the Marvel heroes during their devil-may-care throwdowns.
