8 Supporting Actors Who Were Paid SIGNIFICANTLY More Than The Main Star

2. Terrence Howard Made More Than Robert Downey Jr (Iron Man)

That's right - Robert Downey Jr made less than Terrence Howard (who played Rhodey) on the first Iron Man movie.

Today it would be ridiculous to suggest that one of his co-stars might make more than him (although Dolittle's failure may impact his salaries going forward), but back in 2008, RDJ was more famous for his history of arrests and rehab than his star power.

This in mind, the actor simply couldn't command the insane figures he does today, earning just $500,000 for that first Iron Man movie. Sure, that's a massive amount of money, but compared to his Infinity War and Endgame salaries, it's nothing.

Elsewhere, Howard was able to top that $500,000 figure. According to Entertainment Weekly, the actor was the first one signed to the film, and by the time Jeff Bridges, Gwyneth Paltrow and Robert Downey Jr joined up as well, it was too late to renegotiate Howard's salary, and he'd already been given a really high one.

EW didn't have any insight regarding the exact amount Howard earned, but Showbizcafe.com's Jack Rico (via Today) reckons it was around $4.5 million. If true, that's nine times more than what Downey got. Boom!
