8 Things J.J. Abrams Doesn’t Want You To Know About Star Wars: The Force Awakens

2. Rey Hunts Down An Isolated Luke

OK, this one's getting into some more concrete spoilers. You have been warned (twice). On the subject of Luke, a popular theory floating around is that old Skywalker hasn't built up the Jedi Order as depicted in the now-defunct Expanded Universe, but is actually a recluse, keeping the Force to himself, and that the film will see him returning to the galactic fold. And there's nothing to suggest that isn't the case - The Force Awakens looks to be all about the old making may for the new and it ties into George Lucas' long-planned idea that Episode VII would see Luke pass on the torch (they're not following his blueprint for the sequels anymore, but still). Heck, Mark Hamill's even grown a beard. But it goes beyond mere those suggestions. Just before production was halted to allows for Ford's recovery, there was some location shooting at Skellig Michael, an isolated island just off the Irish coast with a small, and thus very revealing, cast; the two key players who went were Mark Hamill and Daisy Ridley. A returning character with minimal previous set appearances meeting with one of the leads in an isolation; that all points to Rey tracking down the exiled Jedi.
