8 Things You Didn't Know About Richard Madden

After quickly catching the eye of scouts, Richard landed his first rilm role straight out of his theater group. The role was a tall order for any actor, and was anything but easy. He was cast in Complicity, where he played a young rape victim.

"My first scene saw me getting raped by a big 50-year-old ginger Scotsman"

The role was dark and complex, but Richard handled it brilliantly given his age driven naivete. As an 11 year old child, he took on adult themes, adult language and adult brutality with the elegance of a seasoned actor.

"I learned to be detached and to engage at the same time. My mum has this photo where the director is talking to this actor, who is over the top of me, and I'm just playing with bits of grass."

Unfortunately, as anyone can imagine, this didn't exactly keep a target off of his back around his peers at school. He was bullied as a result, because oddly enough, kids generally tend to lack the ability to be super sensitive to complex human emotion. Lucky for Richard, he's the one laughing now.
