4. He Cried After The Red Wedding

Richard took his departure from Game of Thrones much like most of us took his departure...very badly.

“I was the crazy boy on the plane crying at about midnight, landing in London.”

Richard admits that he began feeling like Robb was a little bit of an extension of himself. He even recalls waking up some mornings and thinking thoughts that Robb would think, in Robb's accent. Needless to say, removing himself from his alter ego proved to be more difficult than he originally anticipated.

After three seasons of playing the eldest Stark sibling, Richard formed a strong bond with his fictional mother, played by Michelle Fairley. The entire Red Wedding ended up feeling like they were really losing family, though it also brought their characters a sense of peace that the pain they had endured through three seasons was finally coming to a close.

“And actually, rather than it being something really bad, there’s a moment of tragedy and — and utter relief actually, because these two characters have fought, and fought, and fought, and fought, and it’s finally over and I think me and Michelle really felt that on the day — as did a lot of the crew."
