8 Things You Learn From Rewatching Star Wars: Revenge Of The Sith

6. General Grievous Is Slightly Underwhelming

If there's a slight grievance (pun not intended) with Revenge of the Sith, it's that General Grievous, the cyborg supreme commander of the Droid Army mentioned in Attack of the Clones and introduced properly here, is a little underwhelming as a key villain. It doesn't help that he's completely computer generated, allowing for little in characterisation, but even putting that aside the General is never wholly convincing; impressive to look at, yes - described brilliantly in a New Yorker review as a Slaying Mantis - but without much in the way of narrative development. He's introduced and killed before we ever really have time to care. Even his four-lightsaber shtick - riffing on the dual lightsaber of Darth Maul but nowhere near as effective - is discarded within a minute or two, and his death, a shot by Obi-Wan through his beating, human(?) heart, is an anti-climax befitting of his disappointing appearance.
