3. The High Evolutionary
The High Evolutionary started life as an extremely talented geneticist who was given the key to cracking the human genetic code by a rogue Inhuman. Since then hes become obsessed with evolving creatures to their full genetic potential, making an army of New Men in the process, and even created his own duplicate Earth, Counter-Earth. Hes obviously also evolved himself to the highest possible degree, as you would do, and is now blessed with hyper-intelligence and foresight, not to mention the best suit of advanced armour this side of Doctor Doom. Its likely that The High Evolutionarys backstory would have to be tweaked for him to fit into a GOTG film, and hed certainly have to have found a way to leave Earth before Quill did. Still the draw of meeting a fellow Earthling, one that is rebuilding a better version of their home planet, could prove a compelling plot for Star Lord. The High Evolutionary could even prove to be Quills dad. We know that Quills dad is an Earthling existing within the Guardians section of the universe who wanted his son brought to him, so that twist cant certainly cant be ruled out.
