8 Upcoming Movie Sequels That Are Doomed To Fail

1. Die Hard: Year One

Has there ever been a more stupid sequel idea than Die Hard: Year One?

Taking place in the present day, and in the past (with Bruce Willis playing old McClane and an unknown actor playing a younger version) the movie will explore a pre-Die Hard McClane while jumping ahead in time to catch up with the character after the events of A Good Day To Die Hard.

So essentially, Year One would be a John McClane origin story, even though most people would agree we've already seen a McClane origin story - the original Die Hard. What's the point in making another?

Before that first movie, McClane was a regular, run-of-the-mill cop, before his experience at Nakatomi Plaza forced him to play the hero. The whole point of Die Hard was that McClane was a normal guy in a situation he'd never experienced before. So is Year One going to skip further back in time and make McClane seem like an amazing action man, just so the movie is entertaining? That would basically be taking a dump on the first Die Hard's premise.

Ultimately, this sounds like a stupid, messy, and at worst, offensive idea. Willis is John McClane, and having anyone else play him wouldn't feel right at all.
