The fifth (and hopefully final) installment in the found footage-based Paranormal Activity franchise, which is kind of like the Saw franchise of right now, in that its movies are cheap to make, largely dumb, and nobody is really sure why they keep going to see them. Why You'll Say You'll See It... "Bah, it's Halloween, what better things have we got to do? Hey, look, we've conveniently walked past this theatre at the exact same time that Paranormal Activity 5 is showing... how about we, uh, go on in and check it out?" Why You Really Want To See It... Granted, the fact that it's Halloween might be the actual reason you end up going to see this, but c'mon, just rent a classic at home instead, surely? No? Okay, then you're too ashamed to admit that - after 4 installments - the mythology of this franchise has got you in its clasp, hasn't it? And you don't want it to let go, do you? You need to find out what happens to Katie Featherston, don't you? You can't bear the fact that there's a Paranormal Activity in the theatre and you're not watching... it... right... now. Failing that you're secretly "invested in the characters," you'll probably take a date to see this on Halloween so she gets scared and has a reason to touch you. Which, as far as hidden agendas go, isn't that pathetic of a reason. Good luck.
