8 Villains For Man of Steel 2

1. Batman

BatmanSuperman You read that right. Like the Beatles or Elvis, Biggie or Tupac, Pepsi or Coke, everyone has a side in the age-old debate of Superman versus Batman. A great and many pseudo-comic-book-scholarly debate has been launched over who is the greater, better hero. But, c'mon, any true-blue Superman fan worth his weight in rejected film scripts knows that there was a period in the early-to-mid 2000's, pre-Batman Begins, where Warner Brothers (parent company of DC), was seriously considering making a Batman vs. Superman film. I still remember the internet practically breaking when a logo (just one image!) of a Batman/Superman film banner was shown in 2007's "I Am Legend" post-apocalyptic thriller. The response level for a fake poster promoting a fake film in a fake alternate future was deafening, to think WB would never make that a reality would be a shame. How WB has NOT already capitalized on their two biggest comic book properties and unite them in one feature defies logic, especially when taking into account their shared history of crossovers and team-ups, the fan base is already there for something like this, and with the enduring popularity of both characters in their own stand-alone movies (well, maybe just Batman. Superman Returns, less said, the better), comic books, video games and other media, it is only a matter of time until Bruce and Clark share the screen together. Whether the Chris Nolan-version of Batman meets Snyder's Man of Steel Superman in a shared universe, or if a new Batman is introduced is not really a deal breaker. Sure, some fans, and WB themselves, would love to see Christian Bale don the cape and cowl once more, from both a critical (Awards! Mainstream Press! Industry cred!) and commercial (TDK trilogy lining WB's pockets in the billions) perspective, it would be nice, but not at all necessary. Seeing as in how the character is largely obscured by his mask and voice ranging in pitch from a high gravel to a low bass of James Earl Jones-with-a-stomach-ache, Bale is not a vital component to make Superman vs. Batman happen. Like any good comic book where the heroes do battle on the cover (to sell those babies!), they likely, if not always, end up teaming up to combat a greater evil after some stalemates leading to the partnership. Hell, they did it in Marvel's the Avengers, and I thought those were some of the best action parts of the film, and it isn't like WB is trying to walk in their shoes or anything. (::sarcasm::) Either way, the fans want it, (heck, even Cavill-Superman himself!- wants to see it!) Batman versus Supes, make it man versus authority like in Dark Knight Returns, make it man versus ideology ala Red Son, or just entrust Batman with a glowing Kryptonite ring and see where it goes! The possibilities are endless, and the demand is obviously there, so it is up to WB to supply a Batman for a MoS sequel.
