A problem with most Marvel movies so far is that they've been pretty predictable. Maybe there are a few surprises, like the Mandarin being an actor or Quicksilver's death, but for the most part you can see the resolution to any plot coming from a mile off, and you're always content in knowing that at the end of the day the heroes are going to be ok, the villains are going to be defeated, and everything is going to go back to normal.

You don't get that in Infinity War.

From the very opening scene the Russo brothers make it clear that anything could happen. It throws you completely off-guard, introducing Thanos as a genuinely dangerous and imposing antagonist, while throwing away any familiar sense of security.

It's so strange to see a Marvel movie where there's actual peril in any form, but that ominous sense of dread pervades every single scene in Infinity War. You never know what's going to happen next, and that unpredictability allows the latest flick to easily be the most shocking and surprising film in the MCU.
