9 Action Movie Costumes That Make No Sense
4. Kjell Nilsson in Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior
Mad Max is the iconic dystopian action series that was revived back in 2015 to outstanding critical appraise. It is extreme in every aspect, from the adrenaline fuelled car chases to the gripping action sequences but one of its most outlandish elements is its costume design.
In Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior, the primary villain was Lord Humungus, played by Kjell Nilsson. The Lord's costume was a skin tight leather speedo and a full metal face mask. Complete with a few straps, that was all he wore. In a world full of bullets and explosions, audiences would expect the main villain, a target from the start, to want a little more protection.
Mad Max is set in the Australian outback, a desert landscape ravaged by the sun. Why would the villain risk so much exposed skin in that hot sun? The costume left little to the imagination and left him at risk of extreme sunburn and heat stroke. With limited resources to treat this, an outfit with more coverage would be the most logical decision.
