Devon Murray played the supporting part of Irish Gryffindor student Seamus Finnigan in all eight Potter movies, though his overall experience working with the franchise has been unfortunately clouded by significant personal troubles.

In recent years, Murray has opened up about suffering through crippling depression while shooting the Potter films, due to being separated from his friends and family in Ireland for the series' lengthy UK shoots:

"I remember feeling very low on my 16th birthday... I was staying in a fantastic suite in a hotel in London. I'd celebrated my birthday the day before on set. My room was full of gifts and I should have been happy but I wasn't."

Murray's woes continued for years after the films ended, though, with the actor even contemplating suicide in 2016 after being court-ordered to pay almost €300,000 in commission fees to his former agent.

Though Murray seems in better spirits these days, and recently announced that his girlfriend is expecting a child, he admitted that his mixed feelings about starring in Harry Potter remain:

"Harry Potter was the best thing in my life but in a sense it kind of turned into some of the worst times of my life."
