9 Avengers: Endgame Powers That Are Actually Real, Thanks To Tech
An Iron Man suit could soon be a reality...
Avengers: Endgame is the culmination of 11 years and 22 movies and is breaking all the box office records, bringing in more than $2 billion, knocking Titanic out of the number two spot for the highest grossing movie of all time. We love superhero movies because we can picture ourselves as these paragons of good, fighting evil and saving the world - even if we don't have superpowers ourselves.
Thanks to technology, there are more than a few Avengers: Endgame powers that you can get for yourself. Let's take a look at those and see what it takes to become a real-life Avenger.
9. Falcon - Flight
Right now, if we want to fly, we head to the airport and climb on a commercial airline or helicopter. What if you could fly on your own like Falcon? Our technology isn't quite there yet, but Jetman is moving us in the right direction. Swiss military pilot Yves Rossy created the concept for Jetman, a winged jetpack, in 1996. It took him four years to have a prototype ready for the first test flight, with inflatable wings.
Until last year, the Jetman flight suit needed assistance from another aircraft to get off the ground, but in 2018 Rossy and his protege, Vince Reffet, cracked the ground launch and now these crafts can take off and land under their own power. The Jetwing isn't commercially available yet, but it might not be long before you can buy your own and fly to work instead of fighting with rush hour traffic.
Flight isn't all it's cracked up to be though. In addition to being able to get off the ground and stay there, you'll need oxygen as the atmosphere gets thinner, and a way to stay warm. Remember what happened to Tony and Obidiah in Iron Man when they flew too high - the armor iced over and the fell from the sky. It might be a good idea to keep your test flights low to the ground... just in case.
