7. Larry Clark
Larry Clark is an evil director because he exploits adolescents and people's fears of what adolescents get up to, to make money. I am not comfortable watching his films because I feel like I am watching something I shouldn't be watching. Besides, what is his creepy obsession with kids all about? It just seems to exist to supply us with objectionable material for perverts and rubber neckers to feast on. Why do we need to see a teenager practising graphic auto erotic asphyxiation? Why do we need to see children have sex with adults? Why all of the 12 year olds taking drugs? There is little wonder that Clark's film Ken Park has been unavailable in the USA since 2008. Kids has been released unrated. I'm sorry, but I just think Clark's films are posing as serious, social commentary films - 'Do you not know what your seemingly normal children get up to?' - but really their underlying intent is to titillate, scandalise and appeal to the more prurient side of our natures.
