9 Famous Actors With Incredibly Embarrassing Film Debuts
4. Leonardo DiCaprio - Critters 3
The Movie: In much the same way that both the Muppets and Jason eventually "took Manhattan" in the later installments of their respective franchises, so too do our little Gremlin-ish alien fur-balls for the third go-round of Critters. And oddly enough, Muppets-meets-Gremlins-meets-Friday the 13th is exactly how I'd describe this movie to anyone who hasn't seen it. (Oh, and also toss in The Raid, since it's about defending yourself while locked in an apartment building.)
The Role: Leo wasn't a total novice when he decided to appear in this tongue-in-cheek horror film. He'd already cut his teeth in TV series like Roseanne, Parenthood (the original), and Growing Pains. Leo appears in Critters 3 as Jack, an angsty little tyke who hates his stepdad, but has a sudden change of heart when he has to listen to him get torn apart by the Critters from outside his bedroom door.
As with everyone else in this movie, you can tell Leo has no idea how serious he's supposed to be taking the whole thing, which comes through in the aforementioned scene with one gloriously deadpan line: "Hey come on, he can't help being an a**hole!"
