Superman is arguably the biggest and most famous character in DC comics (in fact, he's probably the most famous superhero in all of fiction). He has been portrayed on the big screen by Christopher Reeve, Brandon Routh and, currently, Henry Cavill and his movies are a guaranteed draw. Doomsday is a monstrous Kryptonian creation with a one-track mind for brutality and was responsible for killing Superman after an epic brawl between the pair that levelled cities in the Death of Superman storyline. Superman's death would be a fitting way to bring the second or third chapter of the DC Cinematic Universe to a close (and we all know that superheroes can come back to life anyway) and an ideal way to bring in some fresh faces for a new set of movies.
