9 Films That Would Benefit From Being Remade
6. Ninja III: The Domination
Ninja III has an interesting plot – a woman becomes possessed by the soul of a dead ninja, causing her to haunt down those responsible for his murder – but the 80s fashions mean that the cheese factor is in the stratosphere. The woman is played by dancer Lucinda Dickey, best known for Breakin’ 2: Electric Boogaloo, and you can’t get more 80s than a movie about breakdancing.
Dickey’s character just happens to be an aerobics instructor (and bad music fan), so whenever the plot slows down, the filmmakers take it as an excuse to show lots of perspiring women in spandex. There are also some incredibly hokey effects sequences such as when dry ice streams out of Dickey’s closet, director Sam Firstenberg’s subtle way of suggesting that Something Spooky Is Happening.
Why would anyone want to remake such a film, you ask? Because it’s terrific fun, and a cult classic to boot. Come to think of it, this would be a better fit for Scarlett Johansson than Ghost In the Shell.
