7. Stephen King - Creepshow

Playing a bumbling hayseed isn't the toughest role in the world. Playing a bumbling hayseed slowly turning into a plant? That's a whole other story. No one would've thought that author Stephen King could absolutely nail the role and deliver laughs as well as sympathy when he played Jody Verrill in the "Lonesome Death Of Jody Verrill" segment in Creepshow. Granted, he wrote the screenplay himself but the bewildered looks and the "gee shucks" style delivery show classic comedy timing. Nothing in the Stephen King universe would be as funny until the adaptation of Dreamcatcher came out in 2003.
