7. Venom
Not since the disappointment of Spider-Man 3 in 2007 have people been this excited to see the black alien symbiote known as Venom. Seems like the story of a man whose life is taken over by an alien will get its fair shot in front of audiences, when Sony releases Venom in 2018.
The alien suit gained worldwide popularity when introduced in the Secret Wars comic event in 1984, where it was first worn by Peter Parker’s Spider-Man, before he rejects it and it chooses Eddie Brock as its host. Brock, like the symbiote, had a bone to pick with Peter, and with their combined hatred in one conscious, Eddie is turned into Venom.
The symbiote itself latches on to a worthy host, leeching into every part of their psyche and taking over their hosts physically and emotionally. This makes Brock a flawed character, as the duality of his nature is often his biggest enemy.
The film will star Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock. Hardy was responsible for bringing life to the character of Bane in the Dark Knight Rises, and will star alongside Michelle Williams, who will play Ann Weying, the woman who will become Brock’s wife.
