9 Horror Movies That Were Investigated By The Police
1. Cannibal Holocaust (1980)
I wonder if you saw this one coming.
Quite possibly the most famous banned film of all time, as well as being credited with fathering the found-footage subgenre of horror film, Cannibal Holocaust has a hell of a legacy.
Firstly, it was accused of being a snuff film due to the perceived on-screen killings of the cast. To clear his name, director Ruggero Deodato got into contact with the main cast from the film and presented them, alive and well, on an Italian talk show.
Deodato wasn’t out of hot water yet though, as whilst it was proved his human actors were alive, it was sadly revealed that the seven animal killings that took place in the film were in fact real.
Several members of the crew served a four-month suspended sentence, charged with animal cruelty and the film was slammed with censorship and even banned in several countries: Brazil, Italy and even the U.K until 2001.
I wouldn’t recommend eating before rushing to watch this one
however. It’s infamous for a reason.
