7. Anchor Bay
Anchor Bay was formed out of the rubble of two video companies - Video Treasures and Starmaker Entertainment. Both companies competed against each other in the VHS market, but both were ultimately sold to the Handleman Company who formed Anchor Bay Entertainment out of their ashes in 1995. The newly formed company specialised in Cult Horror such as Hell Raiser and Hallowe'en. Anchor Bay pleased horror films with its quality DVDs until it was taken over by IDT Entertainment in 2003. There was a lot of legal guff and IDT was sold to Liberty Media who changed Anchor Bay's name to Starz Home Entertainment. This was not pleasing to genre fans and in 2008, the title of of SHE was changed back to the Anchor Bay we all know and love. Unfortunately it had lost several titles which were swept up by Blue Underground. Anchor Bay releases include most of Dario Argento's canon, Romero's Zombie movies, The Walking Dead television series and The Evil Dead.
