7. Goofiness
This tends to abound more in Nolan's Batman films than anywhere else, and that's the sheer, silly goofiness of his scripts, and how this carries through to the direction. Almost every cop in the Nolan Batman films - with the exceptions of Jim Gordon and John Blake - are totally goofballs, uttering ridiculous lines like "I didn't sign up for this" (you're in a SWAT team, you most certainly did), "He's comin' right up on yer butt", and the horrendously bad "No more dead cops". Nolan seems to think that he's being funny, but unless you're five years old, it just seems dumb compared to the sophistication of the film's other aspects. Perhaps the more cringe-inducing scene in the entirety of Nolan's filmography, however, is when Batman flips the Bat-Pod in The Dark Knight. Nolan saw his son playing with some toys in a similar fashion and thought it would look cool in the film. Oh, how wrong he was...
