2. Red 2Release Date:
August 2, 2013 Speaking of that film, it's also getting a sequel, with Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren, John Malkovich, and Mary-Louise Parker reprising their roles. Both films are based on the limited 3 issue comic book mini-series created by Warren Ellis and Cully Hamner published in 2003 and 2004 by WildStorm imprint Homage Comics. In the previous film, former black-ops agent Frank Moses (Willis) was brought back in to the game when he was targeted by assassins. He got his old crew back together, which included Victoria (Mirren), Marvin Boggs (Malkovich), and Joe Matheson (Morgan Freeman) to discover who is targeting him. The first film was a fun riff on what happens when secret agents have to return to their old ways when they get old. The full plot for the sequel hasn't been revealed yet, though we do have a tag-line for the film, which will "reunite our team of retired CIA operatives as they use their old-school style to take on a new set of enemies all across Europe". I'm assuming it will also expand on the relationship between Frank and Sarah Ross (Parker), as well as continuing to riff on the joke of these retired secret agents still being able to kick ass. Either way, it will be a welcome release, despite the comparatively muted response to the original.
