9 Last-Minute Changes That Ruined Movies

6. Batman Forever - Dialling Back The Darkness

Batman Forever wouldn't have been a great movie if it had arrived in cinemas as Joel Schumacher intended, free of studio interference, but it would have been a better one.

No less than 38 minutes of footage were hacked from the movie deep into post-production, and judging by the deleted scenes that have surfaced over the years, the Caped Crusader's third big-screen outing was almost much darker.

One of those scenes sees Bruce Wayne encounter a giant animatronic bat while having a vision in the depths of the Batcave, while another is a grittier intro that takes place at Arkham Asylum, where Two-Face murders two guards during his escape.

Schumacher's cut would no doubt have been full of the same campy capers as the cinematic version, but the inclusion of the darker scenes would have made it more Batman, and less of a debasement of Tim Burton's original vision.
