9 Marvel Characters Who Won't Survive Phase 4

9. Thor

An explosive one to start the list, but it's not one without some pretty compelling foundations. Thor was widely believed to be up for the chop in Avengers: Endgame (or even Infinity War) because he was one of the Original 6 whose stories were said to be coming to an end as the Infinity Saga closed out.

Perhaps because of Thor: Ragnarok's success, he was given a huge shot in the arm that made have changed those plans - or at least plans to retire him - and now we're looking at him appearing in a fourth Thor movie. Trouble is, Thor has passed the torch of Asgard's control to Valkyrie and he won't even be the one wielding Mjolnir in Love & Thunder. For him to come back would mean a heroic save of sorts is necessary and veteran characters doing that sort of thing never ends well.

When Will He Die?

At the end of Love & Thunder, most likely. His death knell hasn't been sounded by the return of Natalie Portman as The Mighty Thor, it's more that his arc ends when Asgard is in someone else's hands and there's no way Chris Hemsworth will be sticking around for another contract extension.

The logical thing is for him to return to New Asgard to help with whatever threat they're facing, clash with The Mighty Thor, realise it's Jane Foster and sacrifice himself - probably to save her - to finally prove he is worthy once and for all.
