3. Needs More GLaDOS

When the first trailer for Pacific Rim hit, fans of the video game series Portal were no doubt stoked to hear Ellen McLain's voice as the disembodied AI for the Jaegers. Del Toro, a fan of the games, personally approached Valve to use the vocal filter for the movie, though disappointingly decided to tone the voice down for the final cut, explaining, "We went full GLaDOS for the first commercial, but I thought it was too much. If you're a gamer, it's too distracting so we created our own GLaDOS 2.0 filter that's a little less full-on."
My argument is this; you're making a film that's a silly homage to the mecha and kaiju genres; what exactly are we going to be distracted from (because it sure as Hell ain't the nuanced script)? This geeky flourish would only enhance the nerd-love this film is already going to amass in spades; why deprive people the chance to revel in that?
