9 More Actors Who Begged For Their Movie Characters To Die
7. Nancy Allen - Robocop 3
As Murphy’s likeable partner, Dressed to Kill star Nancy Allen played a pivotal part in the original gory sci-fi satire Robocop back in 1987.
Her close relationship with Murphy avoids the “partner becomes
inevitable love interest” clichés and instead infuses their chemistry with
authentic feeling friendship, adding real gravitas to her iconic pronouncement “Murphy,
it’s you”.
All of which makes it all the more understandable that Allen insisted on being killed off come the franchise’s flat, uninspired third instalment. She got her wish and dies early in the widely derided final cinematic outing for the eponymous android officer. Meanwhile, the film sapped Robocop of both its trademark gore and razor sharp satire, flopping hard due to sanitizing the series’ appeal and proving Allen’s instincts right.
