Someone at Amazon is probably in lots of trouble. As 2018 ended, festival favourite One Cut Of The Dead - a Japanese zom-com directed by Shinichiro Ueda - appeared on Amazon Prime out of nowhere. Naturally, people who found it were excited and flocked to watch, but it turns out it was listed entirely illegally.

According to Third Window Films “The Amazon and Amazon UK Prime version of One Cut of the Dead is an unauthorized bootleg release of the film. As the film’s world sales agent and distributor, we didn’t put it on there and it shouldn’t be there.” So basically, a streaming platform allowed someone who didn't own the film managed to upload it and fans could watch it essentially for free.

“No apology or real explanation from Amazon,” Third Window Films tweeted. “Considering the financial and legal implications that’s a pretty poor show. Sort yourselves out, Amazon.”

Nice.

If you want to watch One Cut of the Dead legitimately, it opens in UK cinemas from Jan 4th and is out on Blu-ray and DVD from Jan 28th.
