9 Movie Reboots That Were Actually Just Ripoffs

5. Texas Chainsaw

Texas Chainsaw Essentially the second effort to reboot and/or remake the Texas Chainsaw franchise, Texas Chainsaw 3D is a movie absolutely nobody asked for, though one that's been enforced upon a whole new generation of cinema-goers unfamiliar with either the original or 2003's take. A cursory attempt is made in the film's opening five minutes to pitch itself as a sequel to the original film, though this is promptly dropped thereafter, and the film is essentially another rote, run-of-the-mill franchise entry, in which Leatherface stalks another gang of idiotic, sexually provocative teens. The set-up is also remarkably similar, too; both involve visiting a house because of a dead relative (to check for vandalism in the original, for an inheritance in the reboot), there's a shady hitchhiker in both films, then 'ol Leatherface begins his killing spree. Sure, the reboot has more of a police presence and there's a bizarre attempt to make Leatherface into an anti-hero at the end, but I'd say a good 50% of the film is just lazily copy and pasted from the original film. Shameless.
