9 Movie Sidekicks More Dangerous Than The Villain

1. Jar Jar Binks - Star Wars Prequels

It's probably no surprise to find this particular Gungan on a list of ineffective sidekicks, but he doesn't make the cut just for being the single most irritating character in the Star Wars universe - he sure gets in the way as well. Some claim that Jar Jar is cleverer than he looks, but it's questionable. He is hopelessly naive and clumsy, traits that ultimately led to him being banished from his native city of Otoh Gunga. Unfortunately, this banishing led to his paths being crossed with that of Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi. What followed was three films worth of him getting in the way and being an utterly pointless companion to any hero at all (even if the role was vastly down-sized by the end). Jar Jar could possibly be forgiven for being a nuisance throughout his time on screen if it weren't for the fact that he actually winds up being more of a threat to the films' heroes than even the explicitly evil bad guys. When he was standing in for Amidala in the Senate as an example, he actually votes Palpatine his emergency powers. That's right, Jar Jar is integral in creating the Empire.
