9 Movies That Were Scrapped After Being Filmed (And Why)

9. Nothing Lasts Forever (Tom Schiller)

The Film: Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd provided support for Zach Galligan who stars as Adam, a struggling artist forced to take a menial job directing traffic after the Port Authority seizes control of New York City and refuses to permit his creativity. All seems lost until a random act of kindness towards a homeless person opens up a whole new world for him - an underground network of vagrants that control the destiny of all the world's major cities. They inform Adam that they need him to go on a mission to the moon so that he can spread peace and find his true love. Why It Was Scrapped: After just one test screening in September 1984 distributors MGM suddenly postponed the film and it is still yet to receive a theatrical release. Some (including the director himself) believe the absurd nature of this science fiction comedy gave the studios involved last minute jitters, though a spokesman for Warner Brothers said of the film as recently as 2006 that legal difficulties are behind the release issues. The film was leaked online in 2011, appearing briefly on YouTube before being taken down and was eventually licensed to be shown on some European TV channels, an idea that Schiller was fully behind, saying "I admired the European film sensibility more than the American at the time, so that was the perfect audience to see it: insomniac Europeans."
