9 Terrible Movie Deaths That Ruined Great Villains
7. Lady Deathstrike - X2 (2003)
One of Wolverines perennial antagonists in the comic books, Yuriko Oyama is the daughter of the man that invented the adamantium bonding process that was used on Logans skeleton, and has her own set of long fingertip claws and an adamantium-laced skeleton. Shes a mercenary and assassin, and a deadly and ruthless one, but she has a formal code of honour, despite her unbalanced nature. Fundamentally, shes a lost soul, cybernetically enhanced to defeat Wolverine, who she has become obsessed with. On one occasion, she was poised to kill him but learned that he was temporarily without adamantium bones and claws, and decided to spare him until he became worthy of killing again. In X2, Yuriko has the same long fingertip adamantium claws, but is a brainwashed mutant working for Stryker. Theres no mention of the iconic Lady Deathstrike identity, or any cybernetics, and she is fairly easily dispatched by Logan after he injects her with more adamantium than her healing factor can deal with. Given the right circumstances, Yuriko could have been adapted to be the Lady Deathstrike of the comics. A villain that keeps popping up in X-Men movie continuity, determined to defeat Wolverine one that isnt Sabertooth would have been very satisfying for the X-Men cinematic audience. Sadly, the idea was thrown away for the sake of using the striking Lady Deathstrike look and visuals, without the persona and identity.
