5. He Loves Children's Hospitals
Whether it's Depp dressed as Captain Jack or one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe actors, barely a day goes by without someone making a visit to a children's hospital in character to brighten the day of sick children - it's a wonderful thing and we can't fault them for it.
However, Depp is known to carry his Captain Jack outfit everywhere he goes and even dragged 'On Stranger Tides' co-star Stephen Graham around several children's hospitals dressed as Scrum. Given that Stephen Graham is a rather private man, Depp is obviously very persuasive.
The man himself does so much for children's hospitals and charities that he'll no doubt be named Saint Johnny in his dotage but his biggest display of philanthropy came in 2007 when his daughter, Lily-Rose, suffered kidney failure after contracting E. Coli.
Depp also donated $2 million to Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital in gratitude for their care and treatment. Now that's a gesture.
