9 Times Actors Famously Expressed Their Dissatisfaction

8. Michael Fassbender - Assassin's Creed

Michael Fassbender hasn't played Assassin's Creed or any of its sequels. This isn't a complaint, nor is it required for any actor working on a film based on a game property. It certainly wouldn't have done anything to help his performance in the film, which is wooden. That's not on Fassbender, either, as the role isn't written particularly well nor would it be easy to understand how he fits into the story. Just reading the Wikipedia entry on Assassin's Creed a) sounds more fun than the movie and b) does not sound like something that's easy to adapt.

It's a miracle the film is coherent at all, let alone watchable. That's not to say it's good, Assassin's Creed suffers from the same fate as most video game adaptations: it's just kind of a bore.

One kind of has to feel sorry for Fassbender at press junkets, then. For the most part, he comes across as a nice enough fellow just trying to give a flop a pass.

“For sure, it wasn’t ideal… I think we missed an opportunity there a little bit." Diplomatic, polite language - the kind of harmless criticism any actor can walk away from without controversy. And, thanks to his impeccable British-ness, even his clearly frustrated elaboration given when pressed isn't rude.

“I would make it more entertaining, that’s really the main note. The feeling of the film, I think it took itself too seriously and I would get to the action a lot quicker. I think [sic] there’s three beginnings of the film, which is a mistake.”
