3. Sean Bean - Patriot Games

As everyone with any experience of his films will know by now, Sean Bean is very game when it comes to dying on the big screen. But he's also willing to bleed before he gets to the death part as well, as Patriot Games proved.

Everyone will also know by now that Harrison Ford has a rather unfortunate past when it comes to his luck. He hurts himself in other words. But the Star Wars legend's unwitting sadism was focused on Bean this time as their characters fought in the climactic speedboat battle.

The scene called for Bean and Ford to trade blows with a metal hook and a dangerous looking anchor, and Ford was supposed to PRETEND to hit Bean in the face. Only he went a little over the top and actually connected, splitting Bean's forehead just above the eyebrow. Not someone to cry off when his own blood is running down his face, Bean simply continued until the scene had complete filming and has a gnarly scar for his troubles now.
