9 Ways The Marvel Cinematic Universe Could End
9. Everything Goes To Feige's Plan; It Ends In 2028
Back in 2014, after Iron Man 3's box office had made it clear The Avengers wasn't the peak of the MCU, producer Kevin Feige revealed that he and the studio had movie plans all the way up to to 2028. Now that's confidence - even George Lucas was reluctant to tease more than a movie or three in advance.
And, with such box office and cultural dominance it's not like things could all go according to plan - minor slip-ups either behind-the-scenes or slightly less than groundbreaking box office takings aren't going to lead to massive course correction - so maybe this is the simplest answer.
However, the thing with this is that we've already seen these plans are very susceptible to change - the first leg of that future was revealed in late 2014, but already it's been amended twice (to allow the introduction of Spider-Man and Ant-Man And The Wasp), with movie releases dates shifted around, while Inhumans has already been put on-hold.
Clearly whatever Feige's plan early last year was, it's already changed quite a lot. So while he may still be using the same broad outline, the odds of everything following through (especially when one contract can alter the whole layout), is actually rather low.
