9 Worst Billion Dollar Movies

6. Alice In Wonderland

Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom T Rex
Disney

Ranking: #32

Worldwide Gross: $1,025,467,110

Why is this a billion dollar movie? Does anyone even know?

It may have been based on a beloved children's book and had Johnny Depp and Tim Burton (back when both were still well-liked) on-board, but even so, there's no real explanation to why this ended up being the 5th highest grossing movie ever at one point.

Essentially, this was a random movie that somehow destroyed the box office without anyone really liking it very much. It isn't quite as terrible as some say it is and it also has one of Johnny Depp's better recent performances, but that's far from a recommendation.

Both hyper-active and portentous, this is an explosion of admittedly great style that lacks enough substance to anchor it in a tolerable manner, resulting in a complete mess that's not an awful lot better than an already forgettable Disney animated movie.

It's sequel, released six years later, was a major box-office bomb, hinting that no-one really cared for the original. The mystery of why this was such a huge hit is a difficult one to decipher.
