This legendarily goofy feature length television special from 1978 was never repeated and never released on home video, with George Lucas famously finding it so cringeworthy that he prefers not to talk about it to this day. Hes not wrong, for a change. A weird, high camp collage of variety show, sitcom and anthology, it features such exciting space opera stylings as Chewbaccas wife and children at home making dinner, a video by Jefferson Starship, a cartoon detailing Boba Fetts first meeting with the crew of the Falcon, Chewbaccas father watching cheap virtual pornography featuring a 1970s disco prostitute, and Carrie Princess Leia Fisher singing a song to the tune of John Williams iconic Star Wars theme. Thats not all, but its possible to actually feel your brain cells disintegrating if you think about it too much. Lucas didnt have a lot to do with the production of the special, and prefers to pretend that it never existed these days. Apparently Carrie Fisher owns an official copy, snagged in exchange for providing some DVD commentary, which she says she plays at the end of parties to persuade her guests to leave.
