three day poll for The Dark Knight Rises has ended and 90% of the What Culture audience believe Christopher Nolan will strike gold once again, predicting his final Batman film will gross over $1 billion at the worldwide box office. 2,229 people voted in our poll with 2,015 believing it will hit elusive figure, 2.69% (60 votes) said it wouldn't and 6.91% (154 votes) sitting on the fence at this stage with 'Too Early To Say' for a movie that doesn't open in theaters until July 20th, 2012. You can see the results of the now closed poll below; Only ten movies in the history of cinema have passed the $1 billion mark - Avatar (which almost grossed $3 billion when all was said and done), Titanic ($1.8 billion), Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 ($1.3 million), Transformers: Dark of the Moon ($1.1 billion), The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King ($1.1 billion) and the rest which just sneaked over the line - Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, Toy Story 3, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Alice in Wonderland and of course The Dark Knight. The Dark Knight finished its grand total with $1.001.9 billion back in 2008. My question was whether it could happen again and you can read my original argument HERE.
