7. John McClane Jr.
After the last film introduced an adult Lucy McClane, John's daughter, it seemed apt that this one would introduce his rarely-mentioned son John Jr, though the uninspired manner in which this is done makes us wonder why they even bothered at all. Part of the problem is casting; relative newcomer Jai Courtney is an extremely dull choice for the role, his Aussie accent creeping in occasionally and his banter with Willis proving banal and joyless. The script certainly doesn't help, because while their father-son double-act could be fun and amusing, the squabbling doesn't have any wit. McClane pairing up with a younger version of himself sadly isn't half as much fun as it sounds, and now there's the fear that the franchise is forever saddled with this terrible character.
