A Star Is Born Review: 7 Ups & 2 Downs

6. The Spine-Tingling Music

You don't need to be a fan of Lady Gaga's music or pop music in general to appreciate the hair-raising appeal of the songs on offer here.

Some of the lesser songs do fall into the category of fairly disposable pop fare - though during Ally's ascent into over-produced, chart-topping success, that's clearly the point - but her early rendition of "Shallow" is chillingly beautiful and pretty much guaranteed to win the Best Original Song Oscar already.

That's to say nothing of the closing song, "I'll Never Love Again", an already soul-stirring tune which is lent even more emotional weight by Cooper's impeccable editing and direction.

Needless to say, the soundtrack for this movie is going to make some crazy bank.
