Aaron Eckhart & Richard Jenkins in THE RUM DIARY!

If talks go well, Aaron Eckhart will be the third member of the love triangle between his beautiful and free spirited girlfriend Chenault (Amber Heard) and Johnny Depp's washed up journalist Paul Kemp (alter ego of Hunter S. Thompson) in THE RUM DIARY. The Hollywood Reporter say Eckhart is up for the part of Sanderson, a wealthy landowner who believes everything has a price and introduces Kemp to a different standard of living. Oscar nominated for THE VISITOR, the great Richard Jenkins has also joined the cast as Lotterman, the man who overseas the rundown newspaper where Kemp works. Bruce Robinson (WITHNAIL & I) has adapted the screenplay and will direct as his next movie, with shooting beginning March 30th in Puerto Rico.
