10. David Goyer
Keeping it in the family...
Limited CV: The Unborn, The Invisible, Blade Trinity, Batman Begins (writer), The Dark Knight (story), The Dark Knight Rises (story), Man of Steel (writer) David Goyers contributions to the Batman film franchise should not be under-estimated. When Chris Nolan first became assigned with the task of resurrecting the Caped Crusader he admitted that although he was a fan of the character, he wasnt a comic book fanatic and there were many facets to the character and his mythology that he didnt know. So he went out and hired Goyer, the man in the film industry who knew more about the character than anyone else he spoke too. He hired a real comic book geek. Goyers much lauded script for Batman Begins turned a character last seen in the camp and fantastical Batman & Robin into a man and a world we could relate to. He knows Bruce Wayne inside out, and much of what Nolan has directed story wise has come from Goyers imagination. Its clear that script writer and Chris Nolans brother Jonathan Nolan and David Goyer are the real Batman fans and both pleaded with Nolan to make a Batman sequel with The Dark Knight and then did the same for The Dark Knight Rises. When Nolan kept telling us he would only make a third Batman movie if he found the right story, it wasn't Chris Nolan searching for the right story... it was Jonathan Nolan and David Goyer's job to present one to him, which they did with The Dark Knight Rises. Now Chris Nolan is adamant he won't be returning for a fourth outing, could we now see Goyer and Jonathan Nolan being handed the keys to the kingdom to make a movie together if they can come up with a story for a continuation of Nolan's saga? No reboot but continuation. It would seem to make sense to give the reigns to the second in command as it were but then Goyers directing talent isnt even mediocre. Its retched (Blade Trinity, The Unborn, The Invisible). Maybe Goyer should write and Jonathan Nolan (or Nolan's cinematographer Wally Pfister) should see if they have talent directing.
Goyer's Batman: More of the same!
