After The Dark Knight Rises: 10 Films Chris Nolan Could Direct Next

6. Inception Sequel/Prequel

We all know how Hollywood works. If something makes money it usually gets another film, even if the main characters aren't in involved. Christopher Nolan has stated that he never expected Batman Begins to warrant two sequels. He set out to make the best film he could and see where it went. Could he be doing the same thing with Inception? We know that there is more to the story of Dominic Cobb and his pals. Inception€™s marketing team even released an official comic prequel entitled €˜The Cobol Job.€™ This free online comic gave details of exactly why Cobb was in hot water with the shady Cobol company in the film. Tom Hardy recently admitted that the cast of the film were already signed up for sequels with Warner Bros making provisions in case they could either convince Nolan to make another or they just did it themselves. Now this does not mean there is anything in the works yet. Often nowadays actors will be forced to sign franchise contracts that prevent them from demanding more money in the event of a sequel to a highly successful movie. Inception made over $800 million at the box office. This all may come down to the director and creator himself of course. Inception is one of Christopher Nolan€™s pet projects. He apparently spent ten years on the idea, shaping it into the film it became. It means a lot to him. Maybe he doesn€™t want to ruin what he sees as a perfectly good standalone film? What is known is that Warner Bros want a franchise. They will offer first refusal to Nolan but will probably steam on ahead without him if he turns it down. Rumour has it that a possible storyline for an Inception sequel would not involve any of the original cast but would concentrate on the military aspect of creating dream worlds. And yup, you guessed it, they€™re going to be fighting terrorists. Mind terrorists. A mind heist was a pretty great idea, stealing somebody€™s thoughts and all. Without a class act like Nolan at the helm though, I can see this one being a disaster. Maybe Nolan would do well to maintain his perfect record and steer clear of this one. Who Would Star: Inception's original cast. Likelihood as Nolan's Next Movie? Extremely unlikely as his Inception saga seems to be done. If he were interested in another big budget sci-fi movie, he would likely create his own universe.
