3. It (Mostly) Nails The Songs

For all of the film's scripted flaws, it does at least generally nail the heart and soul of the original animation's songs.

The aggressive auto-tune present in Beauty and the Beast is employed far more scarcely here, ensuring that fans can soak in the elaborate set-pieces without being distracted.

The classics are all wrought with a clear affection for the material, especially the marquee tunes "Friend Like Me" and "A Whole New World", which sprinkle just enough contemporary flavour while staying largely reverent to the originals.

Arguably the most startling musical moment here, however, is an entirely new song, the stirring solo tune "Speechless", a rip-roaring empowerment track for Princess Jasmine (Naomi Scott).

The visuals for these sequences may suffer from feeling over-produced at times, but for the most part, the signature belters retain most of their fist-pumping power.
